Creative Every Day: Poster Girl Volunteer

Here’s my creativity post for the week: I made yet another event poster for our town library. I’m a volunteer artist there, which earns me the undying gratitude of my librarian friend, Amy… and a coveted invitation to the Library Volunteers Luncheon once a year, HA!

Here are 2 previous posters I’ve done:

Each month, Amy emails me a list of events for the following month. I have free reign artistically, Amy’s only criteria being that I get the time & date correct. Having no design guidance from “my client” makes doing these 100% fun. Each poster takes me about 30 to 45 min. It’s a great way for me to just blow off creative steam without a huge time commitment. I love being the library’s “Poster Girl.”

These are so cute! You have a great eye for creating an eye-catching but clear and readable poster. Not everyone can! Post more when you do them!

Thanks, everyone. They are really fun to do :-)

@Amy: I never thought about them looking “retro,” but I now see what you mean! In today’s digital printing age, the whole idea of freehand-lettered signage is probably a dead or dying art, which lends a “retro” look from the get-go.
