Juneathon Day 12: The Morning After

Day after my big race. No fanfare today. It’s cold (50s) & rainy. But I did run. Only a mile, just cuz it’s Juneathon & I’m bull headed. No timing watch. No music. Just got it over with & came in for hot tea. I’m still sick… was bad off this morning, but by this afternoon, managed the stamina for a short, easy trot in the cool misty air. Turns out, cool misty air feels really good when you have a fever. Proof there’s often delight to be had where you least expect it :-)

Today’s photo is another joy of rainy weather: wild mushrooms! Friends of ours found these lovelies in their flowerbed & invited us over for a positive ID. Me: “Yes, I’m positive these are morels. Yum. You gonna eat that?” They were not, so we did. Sauteed in brown butter w/asparagus in an omelette. Delish dish :-)

I’m back to not being able to run. :-( bad fiber. :-(

We found some yummy morels too, and ate them. :-D

An unusual looking mushroom. How did you know they were okay to eat?

Cool! The mushrooms look like something’s had a go at them first mind you.
    Hope you feel better soon.

HA! That may have been me. In order to be 100% sure I had edible morels, I had to tear them a bit, to look inside & be sure they were not fibrous (like a poisonous imposter would be). Don’t want to eat the wrong mushroom, you know!
